Serenity in the Big City

The UCLA Hannah Carter Japanese Garden looks like an oasis in the middle of crazy Los Angeles.  Even a visit to their website makes you want to put on a pot of green tea, light a candle and just listen to the wind.

I read an article about Jack Gescheidt's Tree Spirit Project and was blown away by his beautiful photographs.  Read the article here and browse the Tree Spirit Project website to see his gallery of images.

Renga Arts

I found Renga Arts in a recent issue of Craft magazine and love what they're doing.  From their website:

"Renga Arts produces and sells functional art made of reclaimed, salvaged, and recycled materials...we strive to offer creatively inspired objects of everyday utility."

They have a small online store and links to a number of artists they also represent.  Bookmark this site for your next gift shopping venture!

Looking to save, beautify or just plain enjoy everything our planet has to offer?  Take a journey around the world and see what strikes your fancy.  Yeah Earth!

Baraka is one of my favorite films of all time.  Incredible images, powerful music...you will never look at our world and all the people that inhabit it the same way again.

When Planet Earth was first released, I had so many people call and tell me to run right out and watch these.  I haven't even seen them yet, but are on my wish list at the moment.  I am so excited to savor these incredible films.

Longitude and The Planets, both by Dava Sobel, are fascinating reads on topics that might seem a tad esoteric and/or daunting on the surface.  A perspective on our planet from two slightly different twists.
