It's My Paper Fetish Dream Come True

You mean I can literally cover myself in cool paper creations?  YES I CAN, or I can at least imagine myself adorned with Jennifer Collier's magnificent paper garments.  She has created hats, purses, dresses, shoes and jewelry, and I think if I was able to stand in the middle of her studio my head would probably explode.

From Collier's Artist Statement:

"I create innovative textiles and craft pieces using natural and found materials. Through methods of weaving, waxing, trapping, embedding and stitching I create unusual materials, which are then developed into garments and accessories. I often utilise plastics, papers and fabrics into my pieces. The works have the power to communicate ideas about recycling, as well as themes exploring the body. My work is often inspired by literature. The work is non-functional and aims to encourage people to speculate on the nature of value. I enjoy the idea of working with disposable organic materials that are transient in nature, imbuing them with worth and creating something intriguing and of great beauty."

I see her work and imagine a world where I get dressed up in paper, and ride my paper bicycle past paper flowers to enjoy jasmine tea out of delicate paper teacups.

For all you lucky residents of the UK, she teaches workshops too!

This remind me of an article I just read in my German magazine, about a woman who designs Haute Couture dresses made of paper. Very intriguing, check hher out here http://www.isabelledeborchgrave.com/en/projects_4.cfm. It is amazing to me that her dresses can actually be worn!
